About
Our aim is to provide a happy, safe environment in which your children can learn through play and develop new skills. We therefore provide a variety of activities and learning opportunities which will develop each individual child’s needs, interests and abilities. It also provides an opportunity to socialise with children of their own age in a safe environment.
We are the only playgroup in Dunfermline that takes children from the age of 2 years old, until school age. However, we specialise in the 2-3 year old age group. We typically have 12-15 children per session, with 2 members of staff and one parent/carer duty helper, ensuring we have a ratio of no more than 1:5.
Children do not have to be potty trained, but we will support all children through the transition.
The staff will keep you informed of your child’s progress in the playgroup and will update your child’s PLP’s (personal learning plan), which the children then take onto nursery or school.
If your child has any additional needs and you feel they may require one to one attention, it may be possible to
apply for funding for a play friend. CNIPS is a local charity which the playgroup deals with which can arrange this.
The playgroup is a charity (Charity No. SC012324) managed by a parent committee whose children attend the
playgroup. This allows all parents to be involved in the running of the group and ensures that you have a say in
your child’s learning and development.
